The STORY behind

my WEDDING

IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC

Photo 9-2-20, 9 59 05 AM.jpg

Finishing the last tequilita we were surrounded by our family dancing with all our hearts. A toast to life we said with Nicolás realizing that we had been the hosts of an intimate, elegant and too special night.

I immediately go back months ago and I remember when they told me "the country is closing, goodbye to weddings." It was difficult to accept it but deep down there was always a hope that everything would turn out well. I had to plan a wedding for 300 people, then one for 100, another for 50 and finally one just for a nuclear family. I cannot deny that I had a hard time letting go of the inherited dream of how a wedding should be, what my mind thought was what would truly make a bride happy. However, always behind a NO there is a great blessing, and I was able to make the most beautiful and joyful wedding that I had never dreamed of in my life.

At an imperial table surrounded by candles, a four-course dinner and between wine, champagne and tequila, we danced the night away.

I want to introduce you to the team that made everything possible and that really stood out that night:

The PRINCESS and her garden of FLOWERS

LORENA FIGUEROA / LA FLORENTINA

One of the moments that I most enjoyed with Lore was getting to know the garden of his house. Dahlias, muskets, gardenias, fuchsias and exotic flowers that I have never seen in Guatemala adorn every space of color and beauty.

She has a knack for choosing each element in the arrangement with such subtlety and taste. She was the artist behind my bouquet, the boutonnieres, decorated the table and the strategic spaces of the wedding. We chose sober colors with glass bases and white candlesticks so that the flowers would have a leading role and be the color element on the table.

The MASTERS of CULINARY art

ROBERTO Y OLIVIA DE LA FUENTE / CLIOS

Robert and Oli have been present in the most emotional moments of Look. We have worked together and we have celebrated together with Clios so many Guatemalan women who have left an immense mark in this country. As I was not going to think of them for my wedding, they are not only creative geniuses in food but there is also a too special affection.

When they sent me the proposal of the complete menu of 4 courses, my mouth was open: Vichyssoise Soup , Sea tasting with Lobster carpaccio, tuna tartare and bass tiradito, Lomito Foi Gras and Port and to finish a cup filled with cappuccino mousse and a nest of pavlova. Oh my god!

I can't explain how spectacular each dish was and the best of all is that at the beginning of each course, Chef Roberto came and explained every detail to us so that it became a true culinary experience.

The HEART behind the FURNITURE

MÓNICA DE BOSCH / SPECIAL EVENTS

I met Mónica and Special Events 10 years ago since Look started. Throughout these years we have not only worked together but also a great friendship has grown.

Glasses, tables, chairs, cutlery and low plates become elements that are part of the decoration, that is why they must be chosen according to the concept and colors of the wedding. I remember the day we got together to define each of the pieces, between laughter and memories, and of course the final touch of La Florentina could create the final result. One of my favorite pieces was the vintage glasses that we use to serve water.

The film DIRECTORS

behind the CAMERA

AUGURO WEDDINGS

It has been a real pleasure working with this team of true professionals. The ability they have to reinvent themselves and offer services that adapt to current customer needs is incredible.

Months before the wedding I received a call from Giovis telling me that apart from the video that we had already defined, they had implemented a new program to broadcast the weddings live, with the best resolution and without guests with the camera on interrupting the transmission. In those moments I felt how the day was brightening, I knew it was the most special way to have and feel close to all my loved ones on that day.

And so it was, a complete production, in a rectangular table three computers were connected with three experts controlling the transmission, two cameras hovering capturing gestures and documenting each special moment of the mass. Wow! After this I received millions of messages from my guests not only sharing the experience but also sharing their emotions during the broadcast. Many cried just like us!

The MAGIC behind the LENS

MARIEL ORELLANA / STORIES WRITTEN IN LIGHT

Working with Mariel is a true delight. With her so positive personality, with an inner peace and as she says "leaving good vibes" is the perfect combination to calm the bridezilla that often appears in times of stress.

When looking for the wedding photographer, one of the important elements to consider was that she had a different eye and above all an aesthetic with style and European influence. Black and white photographs, contrasting light and shadow, and spontaneous textures, fabrics and gestures captured. Seeing Mariel's work I had exactly what I was looking for. We met in a cafe (when it was still possible), we talked, we told stories and we clicked instantly.

The store that WAKES UP ILUSIONS

PAOLA MURUA BOLAÑOS / VALERDÍ

I met Paola through Claudia, her mother. I was impressed by how young and enterprising she is. Paola is in charge of bringing the wedding dresses and Clau of bringing all the party dresses. They are the dynamic duo in power.

If something was clear about my dress, it was that it had to have a good fabric. I have always been picky with white fabric, many times it is very hard, rigid or very white. When I got to try on Valerdí dresses, I thought it was a plus that they had Pronovias designs. And what happened many times happened, I tried on the first one and I knew it was the base of the dress I wanted.

My dress was assembled in the store according to what I already had in mind, the base was subtle lace with a strapless with a pear-shaped neckline with a tulle detail and a V-back. For mass we put a tulle skirt with a long train and a light tulle tank top with bare shoulders following the neckline of the back.

The POWER of a table

precisely  CUTE

SILVIA NEUTZE DE DORION / CORINNE

Like flowers and furniture, the dishes on a table are one of the most important central elements that complement the look and decoration.

When I spoke with Silvia and Nina her daughter to make an appointment and choose the wedding gift registry, I did not imagine the beauties they had in the store. Silvia apart from being an incredible person, has brought modernity and style to the new concept of the brand.

Upon entering there was so much to choose from and I automatically fell in love with what today is the tableware in my house, Juliska's white Berry & Thread. It is such a versatile tableware that it can be used for an informal country breakfast, as for an elegant dinner.

I was so fascinated that it was the tableware that I also chose for the wedding. The starter plate was of the same line in grayish celestial color with two types of plates, one round and the other in a star shape. It gave the table the touch of color without competing with the flowers, complementing the color palette and the napkins embroidered with our initials.
